THANK YOU FOR ATTENDING OUR MEETING TUESDAY!

This is for all parents/students - new and old!

This is also for all Assistant Coaches - new and old!

I was glad to see so many new faces - of both parents and students - at the BUDC's first meeting Tuesday night! I know the thought of so much preparation is intimidating to our new parents, but, older parents (speak up, here, Jackie, Kevin, Julie!) will tell you that it is much easier than in years past, thanks to our wonderful new website, designed by SHS sophomore Lev Schuster.

Please remember that there is no/no meeting tonight, Thursday, September 7, as I am leaving for a family memorial service in Michigan.

Since you have this time free, I suggest you have a "virtual" BUDC practice by going into our website,https://bellinghamdebate.wixsite.com/home and downloading the most important forms/information so that you can have the Expectations and Student/Parent contact information filled out and you can go to the web links as indicated to fill out the Volunteer & the Driver forms. I have listed below the most important forms/actions that need to be taken first. If everyone will just grit through this, we can roll into a winning 2017 debate season without the grief and agony associated with lost forms and forgetting to get things signed.

A) Parents - Paperwork Directions - please follow the directions to get your volunteer clearance and your driver clearance.

B) Parents/Students - Please download the Expectations form. Read, sign and return the last page to me by Thursday, September 14

C) Parents - Student/parent contact sheet - Please download this, save it as a word document, fill out the information, save again and then send me an Email with the document attached as a word document. This will save me hours of inputting information (and often getting Email addresses mixed up!) and I will be able to save everything in the same folder. Increased efficiency for me means ultimately more happiness for you!

D) Parents/Students - Please pay your ASB dues and at least your first month's BUDC dues to your school's bookkeeper. You must identify on the check that it is for debate or if you're paying in cash, tell your child to tell the bookkeeper it is for debate, or it will go elsewhere! You can find your school's bookkeeper, Activities Assistant and Activities Director in the Admin Contact instructions under the Parents or Students tab of the website.

E) Parents, especially of current debaters, please trip merrily through the tournament schedule with your kids so that you determine the tournaments to which you'd like to sign up and to get your spot for the garage sale. All of this took hours of work on my part to make it smooth and easy for you, so, please take advantage of it.

F) Assistant Coaches - please do your volunteer clearance as per the instructions on the Paperwork Directions form under the "Parents" tab of the website. If you cleared last year, you do not have to clear this year. Jenn/Shawn - please contact Donna Hulford to request information on how you can A) get an appointment to be fingerprinted at the BSD office and B) what the process is to transfer the $$ from our fund to the BSD to pay for the fingerprinting. Shawn, are you going to drive again? If so, please follow the instructions on the Paper Work Directions sheet to get certified to drive - Jenn, same w/you if you are thinking about driving. Also, ACs, if I don't have your contact information, please let me know it ASAP. Many thanks!
